Dr Papageorgiou is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the University Hospital of Larissa, Greece, specializing in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus and Neuro-Ophthalmology. She graduated with honours from the Aristoteles University of Thessaloniki, Greece and completed her residency training in Tübingen, Germany and in Larissa, Greece. In Tübingen, Dr Papageorgiou has done extensive clinical and research work in the specialized Neuro-ophthalmology Clinics of the University Eye Clinic, especially with patients suffering from optic nerve disease, visual field defects, lesions of the optic pathway and higher disorders of vision in the framework of a Marie Curie Fellowship for Early Stage Training (Director: Prof. E. Zrenner). She holds a PhD in Neurosciences from the University of Tübingen (under the supervision of Professor Schiefer). Additionally, she has done a subspecialty clinical and research training in Paediatric Ophthalmology at the University of Leicester UK, under the supervision of Professor Gottlob, where she has gained experience in patients with nystagmus and complex ocular motility disorders.
