Dr. George N. Mangouritsas graduated from the German School Gymnasium in Athens and studied Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He completed the four years ophthalmology training as a resident at the University Eye Clinic Würzburg in Germany. His research was supported by a German Academic Exchange Service scholarship (DAAD), and he was awarded for his PhD thesis the academic degree Doctor of Athens University. Dr. Mangouritsas was Fellow in University Eye Clinic Munich for one year and since 1997 continued his career as Consultant and Head of the Glaucoma Department in the Eye Clinic of General Hospital “Red Cross” in Athens with main areas of research and medical practice glaucoma and cataract. Dr. Mangouritsas has 20 original publications in PubMed cited journals and more than 250 presentations, lectures and round table discussions in local and international congresses. He performed more than 15.000 cataract operations and more than 5.000 anti-glaucomatous surgical procedures. He obtained the FEBO Diploma and served as Examiner of the European Board of Ophthalmology in Paris and of the Board for Specialty (Ophthalmology) Certificate Examination in Athens. He was member of the Board of the Hellenic Ophthalmological Society and President of the Greek Glaucoma Society. He was member of the organizing committees of many Panhellenic Ophthalmological Congresses and International Glaucoma Congresses in Athens. Since 2021 works in his private practice “MYVISION” Eye Institute in Athens.
