Ophthalmic Surgeon Ioannis Datseris was born in Athens in 1962.
He is a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Crete. Following the successful completion of his specialization in Ophthalmology, he got a full time job at Medical Retina Department Ophthalmology Clinic University Hospital of Athens G. Gennimatas, where he was trained under the guidance of Prof. Georgios Theodosiadis from 1997 to 2000.
Ioannis Datseris holds a doctoral degree from the Medical School of the University of Crete and is a recipient of the European Board of Ophthalmology diploma, serving as an examiner for the board since 2010.
He has received specialized training in Refractive Surgery in 1998 at BEMMO, University of Crete under the guidance of Prof. Ioannis Pallikaris where he practiced a comprehensive range of modern techniques in Lasik surgery.
In 2001, he became CEO of the OMMA Ophthalmological Institute of Athens, which has now become a modern Eye Day Care Clinic.
Dr Datseris was elected President of private doctors n Attica 2009 -2018, elected on the Board of the Athens Medical Association since 1999 (Vice President 2018-2022), elected in the board of Panhellenic Medical Society 2008, 2010 and currently serves as the Secretary General of the Board of the Vitreoretinal Society (GVRS) and President from February 2024.
In addition, he is a distinguished member of AAO, HOS, HSCRS, ESCRS, ISRS, and ASCRS. Each year, he actively engages and offers expert guidance at numerous conferences within Greece and regularly attends various international conferences. Moreover he has made notable contributions to publications in reputable medical journals.
