Touhami Sarah

Dr Sarah Touhami, MD-PhD, is a cataract and vitreoretinal surgeon, with particular interest in retinal pathology and uveitis. She was appointed Associate Professor at Sorbonne Université after completing her residency and fellowship in medical and surgical retina and inflammatory diseases.  She is currently in charge of the retina department of the Pitié Salpêtrière University Hospital with a particular interest in biomarkers and artificial intelligence.

In addition to her medical background, Dr. Touhami obtained hers Masters degree at the École Normale Supérieure and the Pasteur Institute of Paris and her PhD at the Institut de la Vision where most of the French basic eye research is conducted. Her current research focuses on new means of drug delivery for eye disease.

Dr. Touhami holds a university degree in medical pedagogy and is involved in the teaching of medical students and ophthalmologists. She is member of the scientific committee of the online version of the French Society of Ophthalmology. She is the author of more than 60 original scientific publications and numerous book chapters.

Dr. Touhami is a member of several organizations (French Society of Ophthalmology, American Academy of Ophthalmology, ARVO etc) and has received several awards including the research prize from the French Society of Ophthalmology.
