Relimpio Isabel

Dr. Isabel Relimpio López, has been an ophthalmologist since 2000, working as a vitreoretinal surgeon consultant in Virgen Macarena University Hospital. She has also served in VIAMED hospital as the head of the department since 2012.
Currently, she is the Head of the Retina section as well as the Coordinator for the Adult Intraocular Tumour unit, which is a national reference in Spain, in the Virgen de Macarena Hospital in Seville. 

Doctor Relimpio has collaborated with the Andalusian Centre for Molecular Biology and Regenerative Medicine (CABIMER) and National Health Institute Carlos III (RICORS). She has been involved as the Director and lecturer in Postgraduate Masters on Oncology and Retina. 

Her main dedication over the last 25 years has been to complex cataracts and Vitroretinal Surgery. 
She collaborated with the setup of the ophthalmic brachitherapy unit in 2006, which she currently coordinates.
She worked in the children’s oncology unit from 2000 to 2015, which is also a national reference.
Throughout her career, she has been the author or co-author of papers for international scientific journals, book chapters, books and has participated in presentations and lectures in national and international events. 

 She received the ‘Luigi Barca’ award for the best surgical presentation, in the 2015 Floretina meeting; the “Fan award” by the American Society in the Oncology surgery section 2016 and 4 awards in Euretina in 2014, 2015 (double) and 2017. 

 She has been chosen to take part in the Royal Academy of Seville as ‘Académico correspondiente’.
