Professor of Ophthalmology at the Barcelona Autonoma University, Coordinator of the Ophthalmology Research area of the Faculty of Medicine of the Barcelona Autonomous University. He is Director of the Ophthalmology Biomedical Research Unit at the Valle Hebron Hospital since 2007.
Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Barcelona. At national level, Past President of the Spanish Society of Retina and Vitreous (SERV), President of the Retina Plus Foundation.
At international level, he holds the position of Liaison Leader of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) for Europe, president of the Jules Gonin Club, founding member and teacher of ESASO (European School of Advanced Studies in Opthalmology).
Specialist in surgical retina, with special interest in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy, surgery for complex retinal detachment, pioneer in Spain in the treatment of macular holes, surgical treatment of intraocular tumors and retinal vascular pathology.
Prof Garcia-Arumi has published over 200 articles on vitreoretinal diseases and 17 chapters in vitreoretinal books., Principal investigator in more than 40 research projects
Author and Coordinator of the book Ocular Traumatology, a guide on ocular trauma with the participation of more than a hundred specialists.
