Chatziralli Irini

Dr Irini Chatziralli is Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology and Medical Retina Specialist at 2nd Department of Ophthalmology, “Attikon” Hospital, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Athens, Greece.

After her medical studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, she did her residency in Ophthalmology at Barts and the London NHS Trust, London, UK and at the 2nd Department of Ophthalmology, Ophthalmiatrion Athinon, Athens, Greece. Then she completed her fellowship in Medical Retina/Uveitis at King’s College Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, UK. She has also a PhD from National and Kapodistian University of Athens, Greece, regarding the electrophysiological findings in patients with retrobulbar optic neuritis.

Dr Irini Chatziralli has published 209 peer review articles and 8 book chapters. She is a reviewer in distinguished journals, including Ophthalmology, Retina, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Diabetes Therapy and Acta Diabetologia.

Dr Chatziralli has participated in numerous clinical trials. Her main areas of expertise are vitreoretinal disorders, such as diabetic retinopathy and macular edema, retinal vein occlusion, age-related macular degeneration and vitreomacular traction, while she is involved in the investigation of new therapeutic alternatives in vitreoretinal disorders.
