Charonis George

Dr. Charonis studied Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specialized in Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville, KY, USA and subspecialized in Orbitofacial Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. He obtained his PhD in Medicine at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

He is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a full member of ASOPRS and ESOPRS. He was the organizer of the 35th ESOPRS meeting in Athens.  He is past President of the Hellenic Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and of the Hellenic Society of Ophthalmology.

He is the co-founder and Chairman of Athens Vision Eye Institute in Athens, Greece. His scientific interests are aesthetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery, lacrimal surgery and orbital  surgery.

He has authored several book chapters and publications and has lectured extensively in the past 27 years in National and International meetings as an Invited speaker.

He was a member of the Greek National Water ski team for over 15 years and was the former Greek National record holder in Tricks and a two-time National Overall champion.

He is a founding member and ex Vice President of Axion Hellas, a non-profit volunteer organization that focuses on support of vulnerable local communities by providing health services, improvement of living conditions and promotion of natural and cultural awareness.
