About Seville

Seville, the capital of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia and the province of Seville, is one of the largest Spanish cities. Seville is situated in the fertile valley on the lower reaches of the River Guadalquivir, in the southwest of the Iberian Peninsula.

The Seville harbor is the only river port in Spain. Unlike other harbors, reaching the port of Seville required sailing about 80 kilometres (50 miles) up the River Guadalquivir.

The city of Seville is famous worldwide for its culture, monuments, traditions and artistic heritage. This is the birthplace of Flamenco as well as home to the famous Spanish sport, bullfighting. One of Seville’s most prominent landmarks is the Seville Cathedral’s bell tower, which has a well-known minaret on top called the Giralda. The Alcázar, the Cathedral, and the Archivo General de Indias (General Archive of the Indies) are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
