Carreño Ester

I hold a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Valladolid, Spain, conferred in 2007. Following this, I pursued specialized training in Ophthalmology at Hospital Clínico Universitario of Valladolid, Spain, from 2007 to 2011. Subsequently, I completed a Master’s degree in Ocular Immunology at the University of Valladolid’s University Institute of Applied Ophthalmobiology (IOBA, Spain) in 2012. Additionally, I undertook two Medical Retina and Uveitis fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Bristol Eye Hospital in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, I attained a PhD from the University of Valladolid, Spain, with the thesis titled “Inflammatory Biomarkers in Uveitis,” achieving the highest distinction. I served as a Uveitis and Medical Retina specialist at Bristol Eye Hospital, with special interest in Clinical Research and Clinical Trials from 2014 to 2017. Presently, I hold the position of Consultant Ophthalmologist specializing in Uveitis and oversee clinical research within the Uveitis and Ocular Inflammation program at the University Hospital Fundación Jimenez Díaz. I am an active member of esteemed professional associations, including the International Uveitis Study Group (IUSG), and International Ocular Inflammatory Society (IOIS). I am also vice-president of The Spanish Ocular Inflammation Society (SEIOc) and chair of the Immunology section at European Vision and Eye Research association (EVER). Furthermore, I serve as an associate editor in the Ocular Inflammation section for BMC Ophthalmology, Ocular Immunology and Inflammation and Archivos de la Sociedad Española de Oftalmología. My scholarly contributions include over 100 publications in indexed peer-reviewed journals focused on Ocular Inflammation, along with authoring several book chapters and coordinating the publication of a book on Ocular Inflammation.
