Dr. Rodrigo Abreu González (MD, PhD, FEBO) holds a degree in Medicine from the University of La Laguna in Tenerife and completed his specialization in Ophthalmology at the Barraquer Ophthalmology Centre in Barcelona.
He is currently an Ophthalmologist at the University Hospital of La Candelaria in Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain), where he combines clinical practice and research with teaching as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of La Laguna.
He is a member of leading scientific societies in his field, including the Spanish Retina and Vitreous Society (SERV), the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology (SEO), the European Society of Retina Specialists (Euretina), the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO).
Dr. Abreu has published numerous papers in prestigious conferences and journals, focusing on diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, optical coherence tomography, image analysis in macular pathology, intravitreal therapies, and artificial intelligence in ophthalmology. He has also contributed as an editor and author to several books and book chapters related to macular and retinal diseases.
